Thrifty Thursday -New Pillowforms-

I definitely got a lot of odd looks from the gal checking me out at Goodwill. But where else can you get six nice pillowforms for $11.57??? Once they're washed in REALLY hot water I have some fabric that has been taking up room in my fabric room/storage of everything/guest bedroom. Can't wait to show you the finished products! :)

Thrifty Thursday -Magnetic Calendar-

We are homeschooling this year ... not sure how long that will last, but for this year it's a good fit with everything going on. That's what made this find so exciting! It was an UNOPENED Melissa & Doug magnetic calendar for only $2.99!!!Savannah is in kindergarten and has LOVED putting it together over & over & over again (so has Hunter). But with all those tiny little pieces we are still on the search for a functional but safe places for almost a hundred little, tiny pieces. But it is definitely a HUGE hit already ... :)

Hey everybody!

I'm finding my mojo again ... it's been a long time since I crafted, sewed or did anything crafty and I've realized how much I've missed it. So, I've been hanging up picture frames and finishing projects that I started and for the first time since the move, I feel more like me, more like things are okay & even though my house is getting messier in the process ... I'm also de-junking and getting that slowly under control, yeah! :)
So, here's the first thing I've started on ...
There is a fun little estate auction here in town. I have been able to score some GREAT deals before and this last week was no exception. I was able to pick up two cribs (with no guarantee that all the parts were there mind you) and a crib mattress for $2.50!!! While we had all the pieces for one crib, the pieces for the other were missing. So, I racked my brain for a few days on how we could utilize the crib walls and then I saw this, and this on the pottery barn kids website.
So, we are in the process of chopping off the tops & legs, filling in the holes with putty & getting ready to spray paint! Hopefully, I'll have a finished project to show you on Monday! :)

Thrifty Thursday -July 9th-

Even though I put the kids to bed at a decent time, Hunter always stays up too late and waks up exhausted in the morning. He loves to read, and will sit there until after ten o' clock some nights soaking up a new adventure nightly. He's read the children's versions of the scriptures in a couple of nights each and loves to tell me scripture stories when we are driving around. So it seemed like it was time to get him some chapter stories to enjoy! I can't believe how expensive the goodwill is getting though lately ... yuck! But, I did get some fantastic books for only $4.50 total! (It was a sale day.)

Thrifty Thursday -Our New Pool -

The pirate pool we got last year at Goodwill is without a doubt one of my favorite purchases. EVER. The kids had so much fun shooting water out of the cannon, steering the ship, sliding down the slide ... it. was. awesome. So we were ALL sooooo bummed to see the top half of the pool and most of the accessories had holes in them this year. Hunter begged & begged me to take him back to the thrift store to find a new pool. He has great faith, that a blow-up pool would just be sitting at the thrift store, waiting for him. :) And thankfully, it was! Not a pirate pool, but a safari one, and only $10 (instead of the $45+ price tag in the store). That curved section on the top shoots water out, the kids love to jump in & out of it all the time.

Thrifty Thursday

Well, I haven't done much the last two weeks. The kids have been playing a lot in their new backyard w/ swingset & yesterday we did venture to the park (high's have been 68-70 degrees!). But I did have something "thrifty" to show you! First off, a disclaimer. I suck at decorating. Suck and make collossal mistakes. There are no mistakes in decorating you say? I beg to differ. I remember when I was pregnant with Hunter & I was DEVASTATED that our walls in our home weren't painted. I cried (I was pregnant & very sick mind you) and finally hubby agreed to paint. I was so excited ... I picked the most horrible neon blue and he actually painted the kitchen walls that hideous color for me! I loved it, it was bad, bad, bad. Oh how happy it made me at the time though. LOL. If only I could find a picture of it ...
So, I don't decorate much, it's intimidating! But I knew I hated these pillowcases on my new (gift from some awesome friends) couch. Then I remembered some pillowcases I had picked up at Pottery Barn Outlet years ago. I pulled the stuffing out of the hideous pillowcases & stuffed them in there & was able to find enough stuffing in my craft closet to even fill up the third pillowcase. Today I need to go pick up one more bag of poly-fil. It looks so much nicer now ... for only $2! :) Oh! And that cute little brown knitted throw blanket on the side was another thrift store find a couple of weeks back, I really like it ... hubby says it hideous. Is it another neon blue type love? For $1.50 I'm keeping it.

Thrifty Thursday

Two separate times now I have LOST my entry for today. Why?!? Something must be wrong with me, or it may be this cough thing. One week into it and it's very, very slowly getting better. After a sleepless night on Tuesday with Colton, we shut the door to his room, I slept in there too (just in case), turned up the humidifier and FINALLY got a decent night's sleep. Gotta love cold & flu season. LOL.
Anyways, I liked this bucket at Target (it's like $20 or $25), but would NEVER pay anything close to that. Found at Goodwill (with a small dent in the back corner) for $1.99. It's a perfect shade of green to go in Savannah's new room re-do. Now I'm just debating what it should hold ... right now it's just perfect for a place to put the random things I'm picking up for her room. Any other ideas?

Thrifty Thursday

So I've been trying to thrift a lot more ... hoping to find some cute things for Savannah's room. I was completely STOKED (yes I still use that word ... but only on SPECIAL occasions) about this find. I loved this chair, it was kind of pushed back in the linens section. I looked at it thinking, WOW! That looks just like a PBKids chair that I loved forever ... but it was $75 and who really can spend that on a pillow? Then, I looked at the tag on it and it was from Pottery Barn Teen!!! Score! :) And the best part, it was on sale 50% off ... so it was even better for only $2.50! :)
Then I've been trying to thrift some sheets for all these blankets I'm trying to finish ... I love the cute little print on this, it'll be perfect for my star quilt a long. :)

Thrifty Thursday

If you're looking for the giveaway, it's the post beneath this ...
So it's been a LONG time since I posted a Thrifty Thursday, mainly because ... well ... I haven't been shopping at all lately, just cutting out craft fair things. But! This needed to be shared. :) Back in June or July we went up to Salt Lake City for a wedding reception of my husband's friend. I was able to twist my husband's arm and he FINALLY agreed to let me go thrift shopping up there! I was soooo glad we did too! Last year I put garland around the front door and some plastic balls ... but I really felt like it needed more balls and better garland. Well, I didn't get the better garland (yet), but I did score these two HUGE bags of balls just like I had been collecting! Some of those balls were $3 on their own, but the two bags were only $2 on their own! LOVE IT! Now the garland looks so much better! :)

Thrifty Thursday

I had been having some pretty bad luck lately at the thrift stores, but this week definitely paid off for us! :) I love collecting games for the kids and when they are a buck, who can go wrong??? I always make sure to have all the pieces though, and the kids are really enjoying the variety of games we are accumulating now. Here are the three newest finds, and then Hunter found this and BEGGED for it. I figured why not for $2.99 (it still works perfectly too)! Then I was just talking with my friend the other day about wanting to make themed blankets for the major holidays: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, 4th of July, etc. Well, I'm working on Halloween right now, but these 4 yards of easter print were a steal for 75 cents! I think I'll give it to a friend ... she needs an easter stash. :)

Thrifty Thursday - July 24th -

I know the Goodwill can be overpriced, but they tend to always have *something* I need. This week was no exception. I saw this there one time for only $15 (retail $60). I really loved it and didn't get it ... it was new in the box and had all the parts. Don't ask me what I was thinking, I couldn't tell you if I tried. I drove away without it and realized that it was dumb and drove back for it even! But, of course it was gone when I got back ... someone else recognized the AWESOME deal it was. I have been going back again and again to find it ... knowing one day it would be there again. And this time it was ... for $30!!! There was a second one, but it was missing half of the buckets, so I didn't get it. There was some slight damage on the back of the shelves, but it's minimal (and hidden in the back) ... I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! :) Now ... to just find a second one ... lol. ;).

The other item I picked up was a game called Whack-A-Mole. Hunter LOVES it and plays it over & over & over & over again since we picked it up (great entertainment ... for only $2!!!).

Thrifty Thursday

Since I've decided against trying to be so matchy-matchy, I figure I'll buy things I love and in the end it will all fit together ... I hope! ;) So, I saw this at the local D.I. and had to get it for Savannah's room (It's Mary Englebriet and only $3!). Then I found this food grinder, it hooks onto the table and weighs a TON for $3 as well. Going with the $3 theme ... the last find for this week was this copper jar. I already have two to hold all the cooking utensils in my kitchen. I love it!

Thrifty Thursday #2

The goodwill here gets lots of Target new-in-the-box items, so we figured it was worth a look. I found this ... for only $9.99! And then Hunter has been begging for this game after playing it at a friends. Not too bad for only $5! :) Happy 4th of July!

Thirfty Thursday

I thought I would start sharing some thrift store finds (I L-O-V-E the thrift store!!!) ... when we went up to Utah earlier this week there were so many fabulous yard sales and my husband was willing to go to one for me. :) I got Savannah this cute little lantern for her room for $1. And Hunter was so excited with his new bionicles. The thrift stores were absolutely amazing in Utah, seriously so much good stuff and my husband was very sweet to humor me. I forgot to bring a sweater for Savannah, so we got this cute thing for $3 (it's Gymboree) and then a cute track suit that I adore for only $2! Then we stopped in St. George on the way home and I saw this and it reminded me of this. So for 50 cents I grabbed it and am going to paint it! :)
